Our team of skilled automotive technicians are experts in servicing and repairing all makes and models – from European luxury vehicles to everyday cars. We take great pride in the fact that every technician at Southern Sydney Mechanical has completed their apprenticeship under the expert guidance of our Owner & Director, Steve Melton. His dedication to training ensures that our team upholds the highest standards in automotive care and repair.

Steve

Owner & Director

Owner & Director Steve Melton began his automotive career in 2005 as an apprentice mechanic at City Ford. He soon moved to an independent workshop in Caringbah, where he gained diverse experience working on vehicles from cars to buses and trucks. After completing his apprenticeship, Steve went on to manage several well-known workshops, including a prominent European car workshop in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Renowned for his skill in diagnosing and repairing both minor and complex automotive issues, Steve is highly respected in the industry.

In 2017, Steve and his wife Emilie founded Southern Sydney Mechanical, expanding the business in 2019 with the acquisition of Autohaus One. With a wealth of expertise in European vehicles, Steve has become a recognised name in the European car world and has a particular passion for rotary engines – especially his beloved RX7. Outside of work, Steve enjoys snowboarding, fishing, beach days, and spending quality time with his young family.

Emilie

Owner & Account Manager

Emilie co-owns Southern Sydney Mechanical with her husband, Steve, and manages our accounts as Accounts Manager. A full-time Chartered Accountant by profession, Emilie oversees the back-of-house operations, ensuring seamless business management and financial stability. Outside of work, Emilie and Steve are proud parents to two sons, Porter and Lyncon.

In their well-deserved downtime, you’ll find Emilie and Steve travelling and spending quality time together as a family.

Russ

Service Manager

Russ joined Southern Sydney Mechanical as an apprentice in 2017, training closely under Steve’s expert guidance. Over the past seven years, Russ has grown with the business and now oversees day-to-day operations as our dedicated Service Manager. His hard work and commitment were recognised early on when he was awarded Apprentice of the Year by the Motor Traders’ Association, a testament to his skill and dedication.

Originally from the UK, Russ traveled extensively before making Australia his home. As a valued member of our family business, Russ is one of the friendly faces our customers meet when they drop off their vehicles, and he plays a key role in ensuring top-quality service and mechanical expertise.

Dale

Workshop Coordinator

Dale has been an invaluable part of the Southern Sydney Mechanical team for the past two years, serving as our dedicated Workshop Coordinator. Known for his motivation, commitment, and exceptional problem-solving skills, Dale plays a crucial role in keeping our workshop running smoothly.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and dreams of one day owning a Koenigsegg CCXR. We’re proud to have Dale as a key member of our team.

Ben

Head Technician

Ben has been with Southern Sydney Mechanical since day one, beginning his apprenticeship with us six years ago under the guidance of Steve. Now, as our Head Technician, Ben expertly tackles some of the most challenging jobs in the workshop. A dedicated car enthusiast, Ben’s favourite car is the Subaru WRX.

When he’s not working, he enjoys supporting the St George Dragons, playing oz-tag, and soccer. We’re fortunate to have Ben’s expertise and passion on our team.

Rhys

Technician

With four years at Southern Sydney Mechanical, Rhys has recently completed his apprenticeship, earning a reputation for his keen eye for detail and commitment to thorough, precise work.

Outside the workshop, Rhys enjoys camping with friends and exploring the outdoors. His dream car is the ultra-exclusive W Motors Lykan Hypersport, one of only seven ever produced. We’re grateful to have Rhys as part of our team.

Tyler

Apprentice

Tyler is our enthusiastic apprentice, having joined Southern Sydney Mechanical in April 2024. A quick learner with a strong work ethic, he helps keep the workshop running smoothly and is always ready to assist with any task.

Tyler’s dream car is a Chevy Camaro ZL1, and on weekends, you’ll find him cheering on the Parramatta Eels. A fantastic addition to our team, we’re excited to watch Tyler grow in his career and learn from the very best.
